“We’re certainly out there driving around taking all things in, but when people actually see things going on within their neighbourhoods and they draw attention to it and make sure we’re aware of it, it gives us a real leg up on what’s going on out there,” Clifford said. – Tbnewswatch May 15, 2013
It sounds to me that Thunder Bay Police Service Insp. Lorne Clifford is telling me that the driving around part of policing doesn’t do anything to prevent crime? You need actually eyes and ears on the ground? Eyes and ears that are outside of the car?
So why drive around then? Why not just park the police car and wait for a call? I do not see the point? Bikes? Police on bikes? Faster than walking but still allows eyes and ears to see and hear things.
Maybe there is a way of saving some money here. Citizen Deputies or Police Auxillary. People paid to know what is going on in their neighbourhood and reporting in to the police.
