Thunder Bay – Thursday

Not the best weather for outdoor photography. Gave it a shot anyway.

Not real but they do brighten up a dull day.

I assume the green paint is supposed to be where cyclist ride when the bike lane comes to an end,

The cyclists will simply ride on the sidewalk.  If you believe they will follow that green line, then you are delusional. Ain’t going to happen.

If this was laying on the ground, I would think it was dog poop.

I guess its some sort of fungus?  Not sure.  What I do know is that it is not dog poop.  Unless dogs have learned to fling their feces around. That could be problematic if it ever happens.

A Great Blue Heron.  It was far away but I got some reasonable photos.

Grounded by the weather.

Enjoying the day.

Parking lot is full. Its full already at 9am.

Parking area in front of Bights restaurant.  Half of it is reserved for boaters from May 15 to October 15.

Not sure how many spots will be available for this restaurant this summer.  Remember, once the fountain is open to children wading around, the parking lots get very full.  Now with the hotel, I figure there will be no place for park users to park their vehicles.

The parking lot near the Camelot Street entrance is also very busy.

New parking lot constructed at the south end of Marina Park.  Its already almost half full. If you think

People were actually parking in the boat launch lot.  The hotel’s “valet” parking lot was empty.

All of these cars parked in lots on a rainy Thursday in early May.  The lots very busy.  Just think what is going to happen this summer when the park gets busy.  This will not end well.  A lot of people are going to be disappointed.

The planners screwed up royally.  Parking was an issue brought up by project opponents way back in 2008/2009.  They were told that parking was not going to be an issue. There was lots of parking.  Sound familiar? (parking posts here, here, here, here, here, here…. Just type “parking” into the search window. Its easier)

It should because the exact same thing happened during the Event Centre debate.  Lots of parking is available in the north downtown area.  The City of Thunder Bay ended up buying two properties to build additional parking lots.

Consultants are a joke.  Why does anyone believe anything they say?

Trash in context.

I guess Spring-up to Clean-up missed this spot.

The beaver issue is inexcusable, and like a waterfront cafe in an art gallery on Lake Superior (average annual water temp = 4C) something totally oblivious to local conditions.

I can understand that Brooks Macelroy (sp) would not initially know that thunder bay’s and toronto’s (no beavers) Waterfronts are very different.

But for neither the local partners, or on going observations by B-M to point out or deal with the issue is unacceptable…
