First Nations credited for care given to dogs
The Ontario Society For the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) wants to thank everyone for their continued support of our Provincial Animal Transfer Program. This program would not be possible without the public’s support, but it would also not be possible without the commitment to animal welfare shown by indigenous communities.
These communities care deeply about their animals. That passion is why we were invited by the chief, band councils and elders from Wabaseemoong Independent Nation and Mishkeegogamang First Nation to work together to transfer community dogs in need of homes, and to work on an animal management program through mobile spay/neuter services. – Judy Decicco Chair, Northern Animal · Services Committee Ontario SPCA, Letter to the Editor, Chronicle Journal
That Letter to the Editor has my Bullshit Meter ready to blow! WOW! The fact that there is a need for a Provincial Animal Transfer Program on First Nation Reserves tells you all you need to know.
