The revised Waterfront Development Agreement is not yet signed so it is not a public document yet. Evidently, the public only gets to see it AFTER the signing.
As for Tender 15, the soil remediation contract for the developer’s property, is not presently on the agenda for Monday Nights Council meeting. It could still be added either later today or even as late as Monday morning.
Late today or Monday morning for a Monday night Council vote? It does not gives the public much time to read the report before the meeting, if they know its there. Council does not advertise the Council agenda very much. They then wonder why nobody shows up at Council meetings.
This is business as usual for our present sitting council. Sneak things through BEFORE the public becomes aware of them. How is this democracy? The public needs to have a week or two to view these reports, especially when funding for the item being voted on is not included in the Waterfront Budget. It needs an explanation, and questions need to be asked of our representatives and Administration. How is this possible if the report is only made available for public viewing such a short time before being presented to Council? What are they afraid of? What are they hiding?
Where is our media? Why are they not holding Council’s feet to the fire? City Council may be subverting our civic democracy and nobody seems to care.
