Thunder Bay has scored a major conference that will include delegates from 95 different municipalities in Canada and the U.S.
The City has been selected to host the 2014 Great Lakes and St. Lawrence Cities Initiative Annual Conference. About 250 people from both sides of the border will take part, including many mayors who will be visiting the city for the first time.
The 2013 conference will be held in Marquette, Michigan, followed by Thunder Bay in June 2014. – Tbnewswatch – December 11, 2012

Good for Thunder Bay! We are situated on the Great Lakes so it makes sense to bring it here at some point.
Of course, you can imagine the blood lust that this announcement has ignited amongst the Event Centreists. This is a prime example as to why we need a $106 million Event Centre is their cry. Frothing at the mouth.
Well, the 2013 meeting is being held in Marquette Michigan. A small community situated across Lake Superior from our great city. So where is that community going to host the 250 delegates to the 2013 conference? Are they going to start immediate construction of a $100 million plus structure? No. I don’t think so.
My guess is the conference will be held at….
Turns out they have a university. Turns out it has space. Who knew? I believe we have one of those. No?
