Play up the good. Downplay the bad. The editorial is total spin.
All I can say is that most people are not aware that taxpayers are paying for a Cadillac community and getting a Chevy. Yes, Chevrolet is a nice vehicle and people who buy them are and should be happy. However, if you paid for a Caddie and got a Chevy, you would and should be upset. Evidently, Thunder Bay residents are simply happy that all those taxes they are paying got them any kind of car at all.
Basically, people are being asked if their municipal glass is half full or half empty. People being or trying to appear optimistic to a strander calling them on the phone are going to go with the half full glass. In reality, they have paid for a full glass. Where’s the other half?
My take of the poll: Ignorance is bliss.
PS: Interesting that the “glowing” poll results and the $2 million budget overrun came out in the media at almost the same time.
