So…go to Prince Arthur’s Landing or your shit out of luck. If this does not force people to use the failed waterfront development, I believe neighbourhood rinks will begin to close.
The City of Thunder Bay Administration/City Council will do anything, say anything and spend any amount of money to prove they were right to bulldoze Marina Park flat and spend $60 million plus building …..what exactly?
If the $25 million Thunder Bay Art Gallery and the $106 million Event Centre projects go ahead, taxpayers costs will be closing in on a quarter billion dollars.
For all that money, Thunder Bay will have a waterfront that bears a strong resemblance to Marina Park, an art gallery that already exists and a very expensive arena.
No high paying jobs. None. All jobs in the service industry. Minimum wage employment. Many part-time.
This mass spending of hard earned tax dollars goes almost directly into the pockets of consultants, architectural firms and contractors. That is what its all about. Prince Arthur’s Landing is a prime example.
It is not about the final product. Its not about the quality of the final product. Its not about if we even need the final product. Its about getting the money to spend.
A brief boost to the economy during construction. Once built, the cost of maintaining the facilities comes out of the public purse. Prince Arthur’s Landing is a prime example of that as well.
Its always about the money.
