You can see just how closely our Engineering Department monitors contractor operations. Seems that this whole manhole bruhaha caught our highly paid City engineers by surprise. They actually had to drive out to the manholes in question and LOOK at them. And then DRIVE over them. Poor, poor engineers.
No representative from the Engineering Department cared one iota about the sunken manholes BEFORE people complained. Apparently, City Administration WILL give a shit if the public complains enough. Might have something to do with the election next year. Maybe the public is getting fed up and raising the City Admin expectations bar?
Unfortunately, all of the Golf Links Road manholes will all have to be raised next year when the second layer of asphalt is placed. Also, it is very likely that these manholes will sink over the next several years anyway. Manholes usually move up or down in this city. This being a swamp, I expect them to go down. Sooner than later.
