More wind produces more polystyrene trash escaping from the DSSAB reno construction site at the corner of Cumberland and Water Streets. All that white stuff is not snow.
As you can see, that polystyrene trash can be found quite a distance from the construction site.
Gap between two asphalt surfaces. A section of asphalt on street was cut and removed to allow for the installation of concrete curb and gutter. This was part of the construction of the new parking lot built at the south end of Marina Park. An improperly constructed patch allows water to enter which is not a good thing. I expect much better but find I am continually disappointed with the road and sidewalk products that local contractors produce. There is zero consistency. Some good. Some just plain awful. Awful ends up increasing maintenance costs.
The same patch. Better but no seal along concrete gutter.
The feral canola oil containers that are loose in Marina Park are returning after a long winter. We have one…
…three canola oil containers. These empty cooking oil containers are Marina Park trash that belongs to some restaurant in the area. The restaurant appears to not care about the cleanliness of Marina Park. Neither does the City of Thunder Bay and its Parks Department who are not forcing the restaurant to pick up its trash.
Must be nice to have friends in high places.
People going ice fishing out there? Its what I have heard.
The United States Coast Guard icebreaking tug USCGC Moro Bay. Its home port is Cleveland Ohio. The U.S. can send a vessel up here to open up our port but Transport Canada can’t? Now why is that?
Does Canada have the capability to guard our own coast line? Why do we have to have U.S. Homeland Security vessels doing the job that should be done by our own Canadian vessels? Oh right…Canada is broke.
Once again, I draw your attention to the mess being made by the company that services the portable toilets in Marina Park. A mess that is completely unnecessary. Easily avoided. Just tell the contractor to keep his vehicle on the pavement or concrete. That’s it.
This is the end result of a lazy contractor making his job easier at the expense of damaging a public owned facility.
Its a park. This looks like crap. Where are our high salaried residents of City Hall? Why are they not at least making a token effort to protect what little grass there is in the park?
It is their job after all.
More geese have arrived.
Just water now.
Sunken tiles around the edge of the fountain. Why? Are these not a tripping hazard to children running in and out of the fountain? Remember when EcoSuperior put metal medallions on catchbasins to indicate which drain directly into Lake Superior? (mention in this post). Several are missing. Looks like they installation process was lacking. Nothing new for this city.
A large gathering in the Urban Lounge (pedestrian overpass) today. I wonder what new wisdom will be shared through writings on the windows, railings and walls today? Words to live by, I’m sure.
I’m thinking that nobody is home. Nobody has been home for a long time. Yet, the flyers are still delivered.
As you can see, they do not go anywhere. Do they go to the valet parking lot that is supposed to be used by the four star Delta by Marriott Waterfront Hotel? No they do not. Sooo, why are they there? Why was the parking lot just paved from one end to the other? Is there something we are not being told?
Soooo, how are the snow sculptures doing? Not well at all.
